V.A. Volkov ALEXANDER YUSHKOV – THE CHRONICLER OF THE EVENTS OF 1917


The article is devoted to the interpretation of the revolutionary events of 1917 as inter-preted by one of the contemporaries, of the historian, of the archaeographer I. A. Yushkov, who witnessed the events of upheaval, working in the Moscow state chamber. The analysis of journal entries of the scientist, which are stored in his personal Fund in the Department of manuscripts of Russian state library, allows to trace the dynamics of the relationship of Yushkov to socio-political changes in March and November 1917, which changed gradually from enthusiastic to scared and pessimistic. The records also contain unique information about the people of that era and the public mood in Moscow.
