The article represents the results of a sociological survey, aimed at identifying the level of openness and anxiety of typical Russian city population towards the images of the past and towards memorial practices of other cultures and their bearers. The survey revealed a high level of conservative values and ethnocentric elements in the mind of all generations of Lipetsk inhabitants. The majority of people in Lipetsk have a stable set of ideas about transforming character of Russian culture.
