On the basis of documentary materials, the article examines the efforts of the leadership of the SVAG Administration in the federal state of Thuringia to establish the activities of local authorities and management immediately after the withdrawal of the American occupation troops and strengthen their interaction with the institutions of the Soviet military administration. It is proved that in the autumn of 1947, local self-government bodies in Thuringia reached the proper degree of political and administrative maturity, began to fully solve the tasks of restoring the economic potential of the German lands undermined by the war and further socio-economic development.
