Kanishchev V.V., Kvadiaev S.S. Soviet and post-soviet historiography of the issue of perpetuating memorable dates and names of Russian military history

The authors, taking into account all the specifics of the ideologized historiography on the problems of military historical memory, set the goal of their article to identify in the existing literature on the perpetuation of memorable dates and names of Russian military history elements that can form at least a partial basis for a truly scientific historiography of this topic. The article applies a problem-historical approach to the analysis of the studied literature. In addition to general works on preserving the memory of wars and heroes of the past, books and articles on the forms and methods of this work are considered in this paper.  Special attention is paid to assessing the study of military toponymy, regional patterns of studying memorable dates and names. The authors of the article paid special attention to the methodology, methods and technology of research on the problems of historical memory of events and personalities of the military history of Russia. The work specifically assesses rare examples of the application of historical informatics technologies to the systematization and analysis of huge arrays of factual personal data, various digital techniques of preserving and providing a wide range of scientists and other users of multimedia materials about memorable events and people of military history. The dissemination of the experience of using modern technologies seems to be one of the main directions for further truly scientific study of memorable dates and characters in the military history of Russia.
