The article, being based on primary sources, considers concrete actions of peasants’ struggle for natural resources for agriculture needs in March-November 1917 in Tambov province. The paper demonstrates numerous spontaneous destructive captures of private and state fields, meadows, the woods by peasant communities and inability of sober-thinking inhabitants of the village and the regional public to defend rational nature man-agement. The author concludes that during the agrarian movement in 1917 in Tambov prov-ince the extensive way of agriculture development predominated again. This way is charac-terized by consumer attitude to natural resources and preservation of minimum achieve-ments made by rationalizers of the village.
