The article examines the implementation of the state policy in the field of pre-school education in the period from 1984 to 2015. The relevance of the article is caused by the need to comprehend the trends in the development of preschool education in Russia as a result of ongoing modernization. The object of the research is the history of preschool education in Russia. The subject of the study: the definition of the stages of development of preschool ed-ucation in the period from 1984 to 2015 in connection with the state policy being implement-ed. The methods of the research: historical, the study of the legal base of preschool educa-tion, extrapolation, generalization, systematization of materials. Scientific novelty consists in the examination of the period of the history of preschool education which has not been fully studied yet, in highlighting the stages of its development of the current state policy in Russia.
