The article is devoted to the «August revolution» in India, the subject of the author’s PhD thesis de-fended in 1995 under the scientific guidance of the honored scientist of the Russian Federation, doc-tor of science, Professor Alexey Vasilyevich Raikov, and the first monograph, bearing the same title. At the end of 20th –beginning of 21th centuries arich documentary base became available that makes it possible now to reconstruct the history of this “revolution”, analyze little-known and contro-versial issues. Among them there is a goal problem and the role of India’s «big business» in it. The aim of this article is to give a brief description of this problem.
