The relevance of the article is determined by the scientific novelty of the problem statement and consists in a comparative study of the situation of Eastern European Jews and their role in the history of Russia and Germany in the 19th – early 20th centuries. The subject of the study is the history of Eastern European Jews; the object of the study is the Jews of Russia and Germany in the 19th – early 20th centuries. The research methods are comparative-historical and analytical. Using these methods, a comparative analysis of the role of Jews in the history of Germany and Russia on the eve of the First World War, revolutions in Russia and Germany, Soviet Russia, the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich was carried out.
