The article deals with the fate of the szlachcic Kazimir Dziewiałtowski, a captive of the Russian-Polish war of 1654-1667, exiled to the Yeniseyskiy ostrog. Unlike many of his compatriots, he decided to remain in the service in Siberia. Using the biography of this man, the author describes the processes that took place in the Yeniseian Siberia, as well as the role of “foreigners” in its development.
