Mokshina E.N., Alexandrov S.G. Carrying out propaganda work through local mass media to prepare young people for future service in the armed forces of the USSR in the period 1970-1980 (using the example of the Ulyanovsk region)

The article made an attempt using archival materials to consider the peculiarities of the implementation of propaganda work through local media to prepare young people for future service in the Armed Forces of the USSR in the period 1970 – 1980. The main ones were the following: militarypatriotic impact of the media (television, radio, publication of newspapers and magazines), as well as oral political propaganda and agitation, involvement of youth (schoolchildren and students) in the military-patriotic activities of various military-patriotic clubs, societies, military search activities, meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Armed Forces of the USSR. The conclusions made can be applied to adopt methods of training young people in military service in the current geopolitical challenges and to determine the role of the media in this process.
