N.N. Petrukhintsev STATE SERVICEMEN “PO PRIBORU” FROM SOUTHERN RUSSIAN TOWNS AND THE MILLITARY REFORM OF ALEKSEY MIKHAILOVICH (EXAMPLIFIED BY STATE-SERVICE “TOWNS” OF LIPETSK REGION)


The article traces the influence of the military reform of Alekey Mikhailovich on the position of one category of Russian society social structure – state servicemen “po pribo-ru”. The author tries to find out regional peculiarities of this process. To that end the author analyses southern town specificity and studies the number and structure of state servicemen “po priboru”, using military budgets (dated 1651 and 1663) of some towns of would-be Li-petsk region. Finally the author comes to the conclusion that the government in the midst of the military reform at the most dramatic period of Polish-Russian war (1654-1667) neglected state servicemen recruitment needs to create and increase new structures of field army, con-sisting of regiments of a new type.
