The classification of the forms of Soviet students’ local-history activities in twenties of the previous century, based on historical and pedagogical analysis was presented in the article. The author identified the most accessible and widely used forms of local-history activities in the analysis period using Luganshina’ student youth as an example, and effective use of these forms in the modern system of higher education in the post-Soviet space. The importance of local-history activities for the formation of socially significant knowledge, skills and abilities in the programme and extra-curricular students’ activities was emphasized in the article.
