The article reveals the pedagogical conditions of familiarizing older preschool children with the works of the mythological genre of painting: the support of educational work on successively interrelated stages: from a holistic emotional primary perception to a more detailed consideration of the content and means of expression, and to generalized re-perception; the use of other types of art in synthesis with works of the mythological genre of painting to form a holistic artistic image; application of methods and techniques that develop reflection and empathy.
