The article analyzes the problem of the influence of expectations on family formation, which significantly determines the demographic situation. Based on the data obtained by the questionnaire method, it was concluded that social expectations in most cases (42.1%) affect the motivation for creating a family. Successful family self-realization depends on the realization of the expectations of future partners. Prevents the creation of a family (Δ av., %) expectations: betrayal of a partner (-848.4); lack of partner’s intelligence (-535.4); partner’s dependence on relatives (-462.4); lack of common interests (-409.7). Contribute to the creation of a family expectations: honesty of a partner (+436.3); unification of values (+365.9); emotional calmness (+364.1); loyalty (+349.2). There is also a high correlation between personal and social expectations. The main proposals have been formed to synchronize expectations in order to increase the motivation for creating a family.
