The article deals with the phenomenon of psychological and pedagogical classes in the system of school education in Russia and Belarus. The relevance of this topic for the state and society is associated with the need to train high-quality teaching staff, to increase the prestige of the teaching profession, to provide career guidance for schoolchildren and to prepare them for studying in pedagogical universities. Pedagogical and psychological aspects of functioning of pedagogical classes are considered in this paper. Profile education is the object of this research, and profile pedagogical classes in the national education system of Russia and Belarus are the subject of the research. Comparative, dialectical and hermeneutic methods are used. The scientific novelty consists in comparing the work of the psychological and pedagogical classes of Russia and Belarus. As a result of this comparative analysis the following features are determined: the university-centricity of the Belarusian pedagogical classes, the practical absence of special mechanisms for the admission of students of the psychological and pedagogical classes of Russia to pedagogical universities, the methods of interaction in the system of pedagogical classes – pedagogical universities.
