N.S. Markov STATE POLICY STRATEGYIN THE FIELD OF GRAMMAR SCHOOL CONTENTS IN RUSSIA IN THE 19th– EARLY 20th CENTURY


The article discusses the development of state policy and its reflection in the content of gymnasium education in Russia in the 19th– early 20th century. The gymnasium was the basis of the Russian secondary school in this period. It prepared students for further study at universities. Throughout the nineteenth century, secondary education was exclusive and was considered as a significant component of the public life of the country as a whole. Lliberalization in the organization of educational process, the humanization of relations between teachers and students can be viewed as an important trend in the development of Russian high school education in the early 20th century.
