The article shows the results of the social research of vocational guidance’s opportunities of additional education, that was carried out in June – July, 2019 in Lipetsk region. It is compared the teachers’ and students’ assessment of additional education potential to perform vocational guidance function. The obtained results demonstrate that additional education is expanding its importance as an institution of youth’s vocational guidance. They also show students’ increasing motivation for obtaining basic professional knowledge and skills. It is necessary to upgrade the content of additional educational programmes to reach a balance between social requirements and priority objectives of social and economic development.
