Stoyanov A.S. The abolition of gender differentiation in technology lessons: pupils’ expectations

This article examines and analyzes students’ expectations from the abolition of gender differentiation in technology lessons. The novelty of the study lies in posing the problem of the influence of gender differentiation and its abolition on the further formation of professional and labour gender differentiation, as well as a more complete understanding of the importance of the work of the opposite sex. Based on the study, which was carried out using the method of questionnaires mainly among schoolchildren aged 10-17, conclusions were made concerning the following issues: which children are more susceptible to the influence of school, what expectations are formed in students from the abolition of gender differentiation in technology lessons and what skills students expect to develop in the process of joint technology lessons. Thus, awareness of the value of each person’s work (87.8%) from the abolition of gender differentiation in technology lessons is noted.  Also the results reveal the desire to realize oneself in various activities, regardless of gender, as well as the choice of a profession without condemnation of society (55.9%). Equal relations between men and women are expected after the introduction of joint technology lessons (70.4%) and awareness of the value of the work of the opposite sex (48.5%). Students also expect the usefulness of mastering all types of work activities (61.1%). But 61% of respondents do not expect that due attention will be paid to the psychological differences between boys and girls, or find it difficult to answer.The main proposals for increasing the usefulness of technology lessons in educational institutions have been formed.
