Abstract

The article considers the issue of teaching university students to investigate de-mographic processes using trends. Demographic methods are used to provide researchers with useful information on the size, structure and processes that govern population changes. They provide a basis for planning population programmes by quantifying current and future population characteristics. The reliability of the results may be limited by the quality of the available input data and the necessary assumptions. It is possible to study demographic problems using the trend analysis method, which allows to identify new opportunities for population management. The study of demographic problems should be aware of the dimensions of demographic change and based on statistics from official sources, which would improve the credibility of the research results obtained. The article offers a list of such sources and ways to apply them for teaching university students to solve problems related to demography, as well as examples of similar tasks.
