The article describes 5 funds of the State Archive of the Russian Federation, containing information about the position of the Law of God in the school and the fate of parochial schools in the confessional and educational policy of the Provisional Government. The analysis of the documents of the annotated funds makes it possible to form a definite and unequivocal opinion on the nature and dynamics of relations between secular and church authorities, on the position of the organs of the Orthodox Russian Church, and on the attitude of the people towards government measures to limit and gradually eliminate religious education.
